Jessica shares the struggles of being the big sister in this collection of 34 poignant poems...Spring-colored line drawings in pen-and-ink and digital media are filled with engaging details, expressive characters, and lots of humor, and bring the family dynamics to life while the verses build to a climactic situation that brings these youngsters together in a touching way. Welcome! As an author of children's poetry, I'm often not sure what delights me more — writing poetry or sharing my love of poetry.  You'll find information here about my published work, samples of some of my poems, audio recordings and poetry podcasts, teacher's guides, poetry activities for students, as well as the first of what I hope will be a selection of poetry videos.

It's hard for me to believe that this site has been up since 1997. At that time, it was one of only a handful of children's author websites and, quite possibly, the only one devoted to poetry for young readers. Since then, technology has changed dramatically, yet the web continues to be a wonderful way to connect with students, teachers, librarians, and parents. I hope you'll find these resources helpful for teaching, writing, sharing, and enjoying children's poetry.
