Several years ago, when I was a teacher, I wrote you about how one
of my students felt he wasn't very smart but he was the only one who
figured out ""Little Dog Poems"" was the Dog's day. I have shared
that book and ""Little Dog &
Duncan"" with classes since then. I just love the dogs--and the
poems!!!!!! Is there going to be another ""Little Dog"" book
anytime soon? I hope so. After 32 years of teaching I have retired
this year. But I hope to be able to visit in classes and Mother's
Day out programs and introduce ""Little Dog"" to many other
children. I have two dogs and wrote short stories about them for my

I love this book of poems. I especially love the poems ""Changing
Classes"", ""Which Lunch Table"", ""Sunday Night Meltdown"", and the
one i think is called ""Secret Crush"" or something along those

middle schoolers should know that you don't always end up with the
guy you like or the guy you have a crush on. Trust me, its not a

My first graders LOVED Little Dog Poems! I can't wait to show and
read them Little Dog and Duncan!!! Little Dog looks a bit like my
own dog so he's extra special to me. Last year when I read the
Little Dog Poems all but one of my students didn't get the idea that
it described his day. The guy who did get it is dyslexic and having
trouble with his self-esteem. When HE figured out the poems, he was
SO proud of himself! I hope you will write more Little Dog poems.

My daughter received "The Great Frog Race" as a gift several
years ago and it is on our favorite bedtime books list. As good as
the poems and illustrations are, there is one three-word line that
